Zipit...Lough Key Forest Park!
Back in August on a typical Irish summers day (it was raining!) we decided to spend the day at Zipit Lough Key Forest Park in Co. Roscommon with some friends to celebrate Jamie’s birthday! Although the weather was certainly wet and miserable, we were far from it. During the day we had your eyes opened to a whole new level of adventure and fun!
Along the way, there is a range of activities to challenge every age and ability, from rope bridges and cargo nets putting your coordination to the test, to balancing while walking on swinging logs. You are connected by a harness at all times so it is completely safe.
Each circuit is slightly more challenging than the one before, the red is the toughest challenge, you base jump from 15-20 meters!! After each activity is complete, you get to travel in style along zip lines which bring you from tree to tree!
Don’t worry about being afraid of heights as there are five different circuits available, ranging from 1 meter to 20 meters off the ground. The instructors are very friendly and are there to give you a helping hand whenever you need it.
You spend about four hours in total on the course so bring a picnic and make a day out of it. It’s a brilliant family day out for everyone, regardless of the weather conditions. It rained when we were there but we were up in the treetops and didn’t even notice we were having too much fun.
Let me know if you’ve been there and what you thought of it or if I have put the idea in your head now!
All in all, I couldn’t recommend it more, your inner child will love it!
