Sterling Silver Pen Nib Earrings
Pen nib earrings!
Recent commission for a newly graduated journalist.
A few years ago, I was in Birmingham's jewellery quarter, where I visited a pen museum. I saw how the old pen and ink nibs were stamped out from thin sheet (tin plate I think) then just curved in shape and voila! A finished pen nib!
So when this request came in, I said" right, let's see if I can do it! "
I made a mock up in paper first to see how they would look. Then I used 0.3mm sheet silver to create them, as they had to be light enough to wear comfortably and to look very realistic.
Hand engraved, folded and soldered.
A little detailed collar to sit on top and they're done. Handmade earring wires as well of course!
She loved them! A very proud daddy gave them to her.
