Special Birth of a Baby Pendant
Recently, I was asked to create a special piece for an expectant mum, from her loving hubby and baby number one. Hubby wanted something to represent the family unit and their 2 precious babies and how much his beautiful wife meant to him.
I played around with a few ideas, and between us we settled on a silver concave dome with two wee hearts on the inside, and a beaten 14ct gold ring on its outside rim. The back of the dome is engraved with the Gaelic words: " A chuisle mó chroí ", which means " beat of my heart".
The Dome represents the mother's womb that has nurtured, grown and protected two beautiful babies,
Gold hearts - those precious children,
14ct gold rim - the family circle, unbreakable in its love and strength,
And the engraving on the back echoes the love of her husband, as she is the beat of his heart and the heart and soul of their family.
He just loved it when he saw it and couldn't wait until after the birth to give it to her.
I think she might have cried.
Baby arrived safely a short time later and here is the mum's message to me, with her permission to use it.
"Morning Elena just thought I’d send you a little message to thank you for my necklace to celebrate the birth of my little girl Aisling it’s just perfect and beautiful. She likes to hold onto it when she’s feeding too."
