Caring for your Jewellery...some quick tips!
Jewellery will always be a sentimental keepsake. With a memory to cherish and a story to be told behind each and every piece, it’s only right that something of such personal value be kept in tip top condition, so that it will be as good as new, even in years to come!
Jewellery is made to be worn, but as a result goes through its fair share of wear and tear overtime! So here are some quick tips to help you care for your jewellery at home, so that it can be passed down to the next generation and hopefully used as an heirloom for your family and loved ones.
Let's start with silver and work our way through! Sliver metal will inevitably tarnish overtime! The metal itself is soft to allow for intricate detailing and design, so it is better to use a phosphate free silver polish when cleaning silver jewellery.
Gold metal, on the other hand, is more durable and strong so your best bet here is to clean with a soft bristled baby tooth brush!
Gemstones are delicate and need to be handled with care. To keep them shinning it is better to keep it simple and wipe them using a damp cloth and leave them to dry naturally on a towel etc.
On that note, be sure to check your jewellery regularly for signs of wear and tear so you can get it mended and good as new as soon as possible, avoid using abrasive cleaning products and chemicals when caring for your jewellery, don’t wear your jewellery in the swimming pool or when you’re doing housework…anywhere near the sink is an especially bad idea!!!
