Bringing An Old Military Brooch Back To Life!
A customer came to me with a photo and a very special request! They wanted to recreate an old Military Brooch that meant a lot to them and bring it back to life. A grainy black and white photograph of the design was all we had to work with, but I’m always up for a challenge!
Original photo
A grainy black & white photograph was our starting point.
First, I got to work on the base of the brooch, adding more wire detailing as I progressed.
Building the base
Carefully wiring the foundation of the brooch.
Adding detail
Referencing the photograph, I began to craft intricate wirework.
The brooch is starting to take shape with a silver sterling Tri-Spiral symbol crafted for the centre of the base.
Tri-Spiral centrepiece
A sterling silver Tri-Spiral adds symbolic depth to the design.
When creating this piece I decided to create each individual element of the Military Brooch by hand first, as it can be tricky with lots of different pieces!
Handmade components
Every detail handcrafted individually to ensure accuracy.
Pre-solder assembly
Positioning each element before locking them in place.
Once each element was complete and we were both happy with them, it was time to start locking them into place!
Soldering
Slowly joining the individual parts with precision.
Coming to life
The brooch begins to take its full form.
A closer look at the detail and depth in this unique Military Brooch.
Intricate detail
Depth and texture captured beautifully.
From a grainy black and white photograph to the finished piece – I recreated the Old Military Brooch and brought it back to its former glory.
The finished Bespoke Military Brooch all polished and shining, ready to be sent out to a delighted customer. A very tricky handmade piece, but the end result makes all the hours worthwhile!
Finished brooch
Polished and ready to treasure forever.
Handmade Irish jewellery
