14ct Gold Heart Birthstone Pendant
Another special birthday, for a mother who is the centre, the beating heart of her family.
A heart on gold with birthstones was my brief.
Right, down to work with sketches!
After some thought, I decided to go with a gorgeous gold heart beaten from flat 14ct gold sheet, with 5 birthstones (5 children) cascading around it… the customer loved the idea and felt that it would be perfect for her mum!
With the go-ahead from her children, I went out to the studio and began the challenge of hammering a flat piece of 14ct gold into a heart shape.
As the gold heart took shape, I started to work on the settings for each of the birthstones: moonstone, citrine, blue topaz, garnet, and diamond, one for each of her five children.
Finally, after a lot of hard work, the pendant was complete! I was very happy with how it turned out. The mum was speechless; she had never been given such a gift. It is something she will forever cherish and pass on as a heirloom in years to come....
