La cruz de Santa Brígida se hace tradicionalmente con juncos o paja. Se cree que la cruz protege la casa del fuego.

La leyenda nos cuenta que un viejo cacique pagano yacía delirando en su lecho de muerte en Kildare. Sus sirvientes llamaron a Bridget junto a su cama, con la esperanza de que esta santa mujer pudiera calmar su espíritu inquieto. Mientras se sentaba junto a su cama, tratando de calmarlo y consolarlo, recogió algunos juncos y comenzó a tejerlos, formando finalmente una cruz. Mientras trabajaba, explicó al enfermo el significado de la cruz; cómo Jesús había muerto para salvar a todos, incluido él. Sus palabras tranquilizadoras trajeron paz a su alma. Le invadió la idea de que podían ser amados tanto y se convirtió al cristianismo antes de morir.

Unique jewellery from Ireland

I have been looking for high-quality, unique jewelry from Ireland. I finally found an Artist who creates the type of jewelry that is just right for me. Elena Brennans beautiful jewelry draws from the rich tradition of the Irish culture and legends. I have purchased two necklaces. They arrived quickly. I could track the shipment from the time they left Elenas studio in Cavan until they arrived perfectly packed and in excellent condition. The two pieces I received exceed my expectations. They are even prettier than they appear on the website. Elena worked with me so that I arrived at the chain length. Her attention to her customers and quick response helped me greatly with my first order. Each piece is beautifully presented and would make excellent gifts with the way they are boxed and placed into pretty draw-string bags.
