14ct Gold Elements
Courier Shipping is available to purchase here. Sterling silver with solid, chunky, 14ct gold pieces, hung on an 18" chain, this pendant remembers the events of Ireland 1916. I decided to go with symbols to remember these brave warriors who gave their lives for the freedom of Ireland.
Shamrock - Ireland, the right to our own Nation.
Peace Lily - The end of fighting on Irish soil.
Heart - The fierce love that burned in their hearts for Ireland.
These three elements come together at the base of the pendant to form the Newgrange tri-spiral, which to me is one of the oldest symbols of Ireland.
It's meaning is myriad, to me it represents life, death and rebirth, as Ireland was reborn as a nation once again in 1916.
Each strand of this pendant individually made with solid chunky 14ct gold: heart, shamrock, tri spiral and lily stamen, and combined with 1.3 mm sterling silver wire.
To create this, 14 different solder joints are needed. This is complicated on such a tight piece and requires a lot of time and patience. It is not straight forward, and there is around 2 grams of solid 14ct gold as well as over 4 grams of sterling silver.
I think it is worth the effort, what do you think?
